Enfield U11s get the double over Accrington

In a match of tight bowling and quick singles, Enfield did the double over Accrington in a great demonstration of junior cricket. With some of the U11s stepping up to the U13s it was left to a couple of U9s to fill the gaps - and they did it well with some very mature bowling.

Enfield batted first and constantly kept the run rate ticking over with regular 4s and cheeky singles throughout. With only 3 wickets to fall, they managed to build a commanding total of 283. Then with a strong bowling attack using a mixture of pace and spin, Enfield took 8 wickets and only conceeded 3 extras to keep Accrington to 219.

Final result was:

Enfield 283

Accrington 219

Congratuations U11s on a hard worked and enjoyable match

In an entertaining game the Under 9s built on their developing team spirit with a well earned win over local rivals Accrington. After winning the toss, Enfield decided to bat and in a beautiful summer evening managed to post a respectable 238 with some strong batting and quick running of singles by all the players right through the order, with a well earned 15 coming from Elliott.

Whole in whole The U9s demonstrated some great teamwork and determination, and gained a well deserved win for the Enfield family.

ECB Clubmark is an accreditation scheme for cricket clubs and is licensed from Sport England as part of their wider Clubmark scheme.

ECB Clubmark shows that a club is sustainable, well run and provides the right environment for its members. Clubmark accreditation also means your club is recognised as a safe, rewarding and fulfilling place for participants of all ages, as well as assuring parents and carers that they are choosing the right option for their young people.

A survey of clubs who accredited in 2018 showed that 98% of clubs believe the scheme is important to them as a club and will continue with accreditation in the future and 60% of clubs agreed that going through the accreditation process had improved them as a club.

To obtain accreditation, clubs are asked to provide evidence that they meet a series of criteria. This is done by loading evidence onto an online portal and by demonstrating good practice at a site visit conducted by an allocated Club Support Officer. A copy of the criteria can be found here.

Accreditation lasts for 3 years at which point the club will complete a re-accreditation exercise. In the intervening 2 years there is a requirement to complete an annual health check to maintain accreditation.

There are currently over 1750 accredited cricket clubs across England & Wales, with a further circa 250 working through the process. The list of accredited clubs as at 1st January 2019 can be found here.
